We have taken this song from Sakhi movie and were mesmerised with the beauty of the song with the usage of beautiful picturesque locations and eye pleasing colours. They give an impression to the viewer that the couple are exploring their new colours of love and further add the required drama for the budding romance between the lead pair.

And landscape as a character already has a lot of impact on the enhancing the scene. The various colours and trees are very soothing to the eyes. And helps in creating a feeling of freshness, naivety to the relation of the lead pair. With some very innovative lyrics based on colours, this feeling is enhanced and is an absolute stunner.

Mani Ratnam’s songs in general have the capacity of depicting the correct emotion and they help in taking the story forward. This song starts when he proposes her in the railway station.
Without many scenes and dialogues, by the end of the song he already established in the minds of the viewer that the girl and boy are close to each other.

“songs are colourful and can say what we can’t say through dialogue” told Mani Ratnam. And he pretty much translates what he says in this song.

We wanted to this particular scene from the movie because the space is constantly in motion, be it from the moving trains or from the crowd on the platform; the background is constantly in movement unlike the normal scenes where space is constant and characters are moving. The idea of studying a space that is in motion and its impact on viewers is what excited us most.

Throughout the movie there is a conversation with trains and railway stations. The movie opens in the railway with Madhavan waiting for Shanthi and then suddenly the narrative shifts to where they first met. Then, they see each other while in different trains that are moving in opposite directions. The slow motion shot during this scene with music (song that played when they first met) in background is impressive and mesmerising.

In the next scene, the flickering image of Madhavan (while he stands on the other platform) while the train moves increases the anxiety among the viewers as well as Shakthi who is eagerly waiting for Madhavan. Their Love Story also progresses further in the railway station. He talks to her for the first time also just before the train starts moving and quickly runs back to catch his train.

In spite of the busy moving crowd and chaos on the platform the world still slows down when they meet each other. This sort of depicts the feelings of the lead pair towards each other.

Halfway through the movie when viewers are aware of the back story of the lead pair and how they would always meet in the railway station, there is a very uneasy feeling as the scenes are still shown in railway stations, but the pair is not together. The filmmaker successfully achieved the emotion he wants to translate with the usage of space over and over again.
